I’m so happy you found your way to the very first blog post on my brand-new website and creative little corner of the internet. ♡

I’m Rebeka — the artist and designer behind The Design Odyssey Art, a Dutch-Hungarian mixed-media illustration and surface pattern design studio based in the Netherlands. Through my work, I create whimsical illustrations, colorful surface pattern designs, seamless prints, and expressive artwork inspired by everyday life, travel, food, nature, and storytelling.

My creative journey has been a long and sometimes unexpected one. For years, I explored different creative paths while slowly trying to figure out where my heart truly felt at home. Taking the leap into illustration and surface pattern design felt both exciting and scary, but also incredibly right. I’m still learning, experimenting, and discovering my artistic voice every single day — and honestly, that’s what makes this journey feel so meaningful.

I’m deeply inspired by color, contrast, playful details, botanical surrealism, cooking, travel, and all the little imperfect moments that make life feel human and alive. My work moves between bold black-and-white sketches created freely in the moment and richly layered, colorful compositions filled with texture, movement, and whimsy. I love creating artwork that feels joyful, expressive, and full of personality.

I work across both traditional and digital mediums, depending on what the artwork calls for. Most days you’ll find me surrounded by ink, markers, watercolor, sketchbooks, coffee cups, and way too many ideas at once — while also getting wonderfully lost inside Procreate, Adobe Illustrator, and Photoshop. I love blending analogue textures with digital illustration to create unique surface pattern designs and custom artwork.

Through The Design Odyssey Art, I create illustrations, surface patterns for fashion and lifestyle, do package design and create custom creative projects. My goal is to create art that people can connect with emotionally — something playful, warm, colorful, and full of story.
